Simply after completion of the American Civil War a frightening “Sea Beast” is ruining shipping at will, and a military exploration is produced to track and eliminate the monster before more lives are lost. Renowned oceanographer Teacher Arronax and his assistant Conseil are on board when they are assaulted by the animal far out at sea, it races towards them with a howling scream, radiant eyes, and “breath like a heater,” tearing open their warship and sending it to the bottom with nearly all hands. Adrift on the open ocean Arronax, Conseil, and an only sailor, Ned Land, find the “beast” at rest, however rather of a living animal they discover a fantastical vessel, the Nautilus, its devoted team, and its leader, the driven and enigmatic Captain Nemo … now their experience REALLY starts !!!
